Everyone remembers their first love. That summer when everything felt electric and possible. When you thought you’d found forever at seventeen and didn’t know yet that some things are beautiful precisely because they don’t last.

“Butterflies and Reckless Hearts” is my love letter to that feeling—the nostalgia, the sweetness, the bittersweet understanding that comes with looking back.

I wrote this song from the perspective of reflection, not heartbreak. It’s not sad that first love ended—it’s beautiful that it happened. Those midnight conversations, those stolen moments, those promises we couldn’t keep—they shaped us. They taught us what love could feel like. They made us who we are.

The imagery is intentionally sensory: windows down, summer nights, passenger seats, the feeling of being young and wild and so alive. Because that’s what first love is—it’s visceral. It’s feeling everything for the first time.
