Start the afternoon with act one while you carve pumpkins and get costumes on. Halloween Night Trick-or-Treat, Skeleton Twist, and Carve It Out are your golden-hour warmup. As it gets dark and the little ones head out, let Headless Horseman, Monster Scare Off, and Goblin’s Fart carry the trick-or-treating. Those are the ones the kids will be shouting along to on the sidewalk.
Once the sun is fully down and you are back home handing out candy, move into the ball. Witches Waltz, Skeleton Tango, and the title track are perfect for the spooky-elegant stretch of the evening. And when the kids are finally in bed and the grown-ups take over the night, put on It’s Our Halloween Party and turn it up, then let the album carry you all the way out to the very last song, three generations on the same street.
That is a whole night, start to finish, in one record. This is the thing a single novelty song can never do. It can soundtrack a moment, but it cannot soundtrack an evening.
