The True Heart of the Holiday

Every ornament, every cookie, every songโ€”it all begins in the heart. โ€œWhere Christmas Beginsโ€ reminds us that the seasonโ€™s magic isnโ€™t found in what we do, but in who weโ€™re with.

If I had to pick one song that captures the entire message of this albumโ€”and why I’m so passionate about creating new Christmas musicโ€”it would be “Where Christmas Begins.” This is the song about what really matters during the holidays, stripped of all the commercial noise and tired clichรฉs.

The structure of this song is specialโ€”different family members sing different verses (Parent 1, the kids, Grandma), all coming together for a unified chorus. It represents how every generation contributes to making Christmas meaningful. The stockings, the fire, the snowflakes, the wrapped wishesโ€”these are lovely, but they’re not where Christmas really lives.

The chorus says it all: “Here in our hearts, the joy never ends, this is the moment where Christmas begins. Not in the presents or silver and gold, but in every hand that we love to hold.” Home is the spark, love is the flame. That’s where Christmas actually happens.

Grandma’s verse in the bridge gets me emotional every time: “The years may keep turning, the children grow tall, but I still hear laughter echo through these halls.” She’s seen Christmas change over the decades, watched children become parents, witnessed traditions evolve. But the essence remainsโ€”when family gathers, that’s where Christmas begins.

This is the message that gets lost in so much Christmas musicโ€”both old and new. We’re so focused on the stuff, the spectacle, the perfect Instagram moment, that we forget the simple truth: Christmas is about the people you love. That’s it. That’s the whole thing.

The song ends softly, almost a cappella: “When we’re together… that’s where Christmas begins.” No big production needed. Just togetherness. Just love. That’s the foundation of everything. And that deserves a new song, a fresh expression, a modern anthem. So I wrote one.

๐ŸŽ Tomorrow: weโ€™ll wrap it all up (and peek ahead) with โ€œNostalgia Christmas Moviesโ€ and โ€œNew Year, New Me.โ€
