    Can we talk about how perfect this title is? RED WHITE AND POOL. It’s a play on the flag colors, yes, but it’s also literally what we’re doing – celebrating America at a pool party! The title makes you smile before you even hear the song, and that’s exactly the vibe I wanted.

    What It’s Really About

    “Red White and Pool” is my love letter to Fourth of July traditions: the parade in the morning, heading to mom’s house, the pool parties, the BBQ, the sparklers at sunset, fireworks lighting up the night. It’s about being surrounded by family and friends, celebrating freedom, and making memories.

    The lyrics paint the picture: “Woke up to a paid vacation day / Put on my red, white, and blue array / Grabbed my chair for the parade downtown / Kids waving flags as the marching band comes around.”

    EDM Energy for America

    I made the bold choice to turn this into a high-tempo EDM track because Fourth of July is ENERGY. It’s excitement. It’s celebration. It’s loud and proud and unapologetically American. The EDM production gives it that festival-anthem quality – imagine this dropping at a rooftop party as the sun sets and the first fireworks start.

    We’re celebrating America’s 250th birthday in 2026! That’s a quarter of a millennium of freedom, democracy, and the pursuit of happiness. “Red White and Pool” honors that milestone while keeping the party vibes front and center.

    After the chill, floating vibes of “Cold Drink, Hot Sun,” “Hot Summer” kicks the temperature (and the tension) way up! This is track 3 on the album, and it’s where summer shifts from relaxation to sultry romance – a playful track that’s half complaint about oppressive heat and half flirtation with someone who makes it all worthwhile.

    The Energy Shift

    The album opens with upbeat summer optimism, then floats into chill pool vibes. But track 3? That’s where the heat hits – literally and figuratively. “Hot Summer” acknowledges the reality of triple-digit temperatures while introducing that spark of attraction that makes the discomfort worth it.

    Triple Digit Reality

    Let’s be real: summer isn’t always sunshine and beach days. Sometimes it’s 99 degrees. Sometimes it’s 105. Sometimes your ice melts before you can drink it, your plants look sad and wilted, the grass turns crispy, and all you can do is hide inside with the AC cranked.

    “Hot Summer” captures that reality. The oppressive, inescapable heat that makes you wonder why you live somewhere with triple-digit temperatures.

    But Then… You

    Here’s where the song gets fun: halfway through complaining about the miserable heat, the perspective shifts. “But looking at you, baby, I don’t even care.”

    Because yes, it’s hot. Yes, everything’s melting. Yes, the pavement is shimmering and even the birds are hiding. But when you’re with someone who makes your heart race? The external heat is nothing compared to what you’re feeling inside.

    It’s perfectly positioned – early enough to set the romantic tone for the rest of the album, but after we’ve established the summer setting. You’ve eased into the pool, you’ve relaxed with your cold drink… and now you notice someone who makes your heart race as fast as the temperature is climbing.

    Living in California, we know what real heat feels like. This isn’t humid Florida heat or Arizona desert heat – this is Southern California valley heat where it hits triple digits and everything just… stops. You adapt. You survive. And if you’re lucky, you find someone who makes the heat bearable – or better yet, someone who adds to it in the best way.

    If “Summer State of Mind” is about getting into the summer vibe, “Cold Drink, Hot Sun” is about staying there – literally. This is the song for those perfect lazy pool days when you’re floating on your back, drink in hand, and the world just… stops.

    Pure Relaxation

    I wrote this song thinking about those moments when you’re so relaxed you forget what day it is. You know that feeling? When you’re drifting in the pool, ice melting in your drink, radio playing softly, and you genuinely can’t remember if it’s Saturday or Sunday – and you don’t care?

    That’s “Cold Drink, Hot Sun.” It’s the soundtrack to doing absolutely nothing, and doing it beautifully.

    The Details That Matter

    The lyrics are all about those small, perfect details: “Floating on my back, not a cloud in the sky / Got my drink in one hand, let the world pass by.” I wanted to capture the sensory experience – the feeling of water like glass, toes breaking the surface, chlorine and coconut, the way time seems to slow down when you’re completely present.

    There’s something about floating in a pool with a cold drink on a hot day that’s just… peak summer. It’s simple, it’s accessible, and it’s absolutely perfect.

    The Sound

    “Cold Drink, Hot Sun” is intentionally mellow – gentle fingerpicked guitar, soft brushed drums, warm bass, and vocals that feel like they’re floating right along with you. This isn’t a party anthem; it’s a moment of peace. It’s the sonic equivalent of a deep breath and a long exhale.

    Where It Fits

    After the upbeat opener, I wanted track 2 to bring the energy down just a little, to let you settle into the album. “Cold Drink, Hot Sun” does that perfectly. It’s still positive and summery, but it’s contemplative. Chill. Unhurried.

    yesterday, today, forever – The God Who Does Not Change

    In a World That Will Not Stop Changing

    Everything changes. Jobs change. Relationships change. Bodies change. Seasons change. The world we wake up to this year is not the world we woke up to five years ago, and it will not be the world we wake up to five years from now.

    Change is relentless. And for a lot of us, the relentlessness is exhausting.

    “yesterday, today, forever” is a song that leans all the way into the only thing that does not change.

    One Verse, An Entire Theology

    The entire foundation of this song rests on eight words from Hebrews 13:8:

    “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”

    That is one of the most compact, powerful statements in all of Scripture. And the reason it hits so hard is that we know from lived experience what it feels like when things do not hold. When people disappoint you. When circumstances shift. When the version of life you were counting on turns out to be different than you thought.

    Into all of that, the writer of Hebrews says: He is the same. Yesterday and today and forever.

    Not “mostly the same.” Not “the same except in difficult circumstances.” The same.

    The Feeling: Deep, Quiet Stability

    If this album were a building, this song would be the foundation. It is the final word, the note the whole album resolves to.

    The feeling in “yesterday, today, forever” is not loud. It is not a triumphant finale with a key change and a big finish. It is more like the feeling of putting your hand on something solid when the ground has been unsteady.

    There is a kind of comfort that can only come from permanence. Not from things that are good right now, but from things that are good always, were good before, and will be good forever. That kind of comfort is rare. And it is exactly what God’s unchanging nature offers.

    “Chosen by Grace” begins with a declaration of identity: you are chosen. And it ends with a declaration of God’s nature: He does not change.

    That matters because identity built on something unchanging is secure. If God’s choosing is as constant as His nature, and Hebrews says His nature does not shift, then your chosenness is not subject to revision.

    He chose you yesterday. He chooses you today. He will choose you forever.

    The album ends here on purpose. Because this is the ground everything else stands on.

    What Scripture Speaks to This Song

    Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”

    The anchor verse. The one the entire song is built on. Eight words that hold more weight than most sermons.

    Malachi 3:6 “I the Lord do not change. So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed.”

    His unchanging nature is directly connected to our security. Because He does not change, we are not consumed. The two are linked.

    James 1:17 “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”

    No shifting. No shadow. No variation. In a world full of shifting shadows, He is the constant light.

    Psalm 90:2 “Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.”

    From everlasting to everlasting. He was there before the first moment and He will be there after the last. Your life is not too long or too complicated for His constancy to cover.

    Numbers 23:19 “God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and then not fulfill?”

    He is not like us. He does not take things back. He does not revise His promises when circumstances are inconvenient. What He has said, He will fulfill.

    The Best News in the Album

    After ten songs about being chosen, being found, praying, surrendering, walking, and declaring who God is, we arrive here. At the thing that makes all of it possible.

    He does not change.

    The God who chose you before you were born is the same God who meets you in today’s impossible moment and will be the same God who carries you into whatever is ahead. There is no version of you that He has not already loved. There is no season ahead that He will not already be in when you get there.

    That is the note this album ends on. Not with questions, not with striving, not even with worship in the active sense. Just with truth.

    Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and forever.

    Rest in that.

    Walk This Road – Faith Is a Journey, Not a Destination

    Faith Does Not Always Look Like a Mountain Moment

    We love the mountain moments. The altar experiences, the worship services that leave you undone, the prayers that get answered immediately and dramatically. Those moments are real and they are gifts.

    But most of the faith journey is the road between those moments.

    “Walk This Road” is a song about the in-between. The long stretches. The days when you are not on the mountain and you are not in the valley, you are just walking. And you are trusting that the road is going somewhere, even when you cannot see the next turn.

    The Image of a Road

    Roads show up all through Scripture as a metaphor for the life of faith. There is the narrow road Jesus describes in the Sermon on the Mount. There is the road to Emmaus where two disciples walked with a stranger who turned out to be the risen Jesus. There is the Psalmist’s “valley of the shadow of death” that is walked, not teleported through.

    Walking takes time. It requires endurance and commitment and the willingness to take the next step when you would rather stop.

    “Walk This Road” honors that commitment. It says: yes, this is long and hard and not what I always imagined, but I am still walking. And I am not walking alone.

    The Feeling: Steady Resolve

    The dominant emotion in this song is not excitement or ecstasy. It is steady resolve. The quiet, unshowy kind of faith that does not make headlines but sustains a life.

    There is something beautiful about a person who just keeps walking. Not because everything is easy, but because they have decided that the destination is worth the distance. That the One walking alongside them is trustworthy enough to keep following, even when the road gets hard.

    This song also carries companionship. Because the promise of Scripture is not that the road will always be smooth. It is that we do not walk it alone. Immanuel, God with us, is not just a Christmas theme. It is the reality of every mile.

    What Scripture Speaks to This Song

    Isaiah 40:29-31 “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

    Walk and not be faint. Even walking, the smallest pace, is sustained by God. You do not have to be running to qualify for His strength.

    Psalm 23:4 “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”

    Walk through. Not around. Not teleported past. Through. And the comfort is not the absence of the valley. It is the presence of the Shepherd in it.

    Micah 6:8 “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

    Walk humbly. Not sprint proudly. Walk. The ordinary, daily cadence of life with God is a walk. That is what faithfulness looks like most of the time.

    Hebrews 12:1 “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”

    Even when the metaphor shifts to running, the key word is perseverance. Not speed. Not perfection. Persistence.

    Who This Song Is For

    This song is for the person who is tired. Not spiritually defeated, just tired. The person who has been faithful for a long time without a visible reward and is wondering if it is worth continuing.

    It is for the person in the middle of something long and hard who needs to hear: you are not behind. You are exactly where you need to be. And the road you are on is the right one.
