When I felt my best
4 years ago I signed up for a running challenge with my husband to run 2 miles a day. So I ended up running 2 Miles a day for 45 days straight.
It was hard, it was challenging, but I made it work. And in the end, I really enjoyed doing it!
At the time I was working at an awesome company who had a gym downstairs. At lunch I would run downstairs from the 5th floor, head to the gym, get in my fabulous workout clothes and hop on the treadmill. I only took 45 minute lunches so I would only have 20 minutes to do the run and still have time to change my clothes back into work gear, freshen up, fix my fair and eat lunch. It’s easy enough to put in 2 miles in 20 minutes. Especially if I maintain a 10 minute mile Pace or less.
I would document with photos and screenshots every day to PROVE that I did it. Most days I would run on a trail and use map my run, but on treadmill days I had to take a photo.
What I failed to realize at the time when I started this challenge is that what thought was only going to be 30 days of running actually ended up being 45 days of running!!!
This ended up coinciding with my husband and my trip to Hawaii for our friend’s wedding and a our summer vacation.
My favorite memories of these runs was being able to wake up first thing in the morning with the rising sun, hit the walking path by the beach and put in my two miles. We would then stop and get a coffee and walk back to the hotel take a shower freshen up and get breakfast and explore the island.
I have the distinct memory of the feeling of the cool Hawaiian air on my face as I was running on the path next to the ocean looking at the other people that were awake at that hour and thinking I finally feel like I fit in. I finally felt that I had found myself. For some reason waking up and running made me so happy. It helped me feel confident, it helped me feel energized and more than that it helped me feel that I could accomplish so much more than I thought I could.
I want get back that place. Ever since having kids I haven’t done any running. And this breaks my heart because when I have the feeling that I don’t fit in I don’t know where I’m supposed to be I can feel my body and my feet calling out to me “run Melanie go for a run!”. This is an actual physical feeling!! I can’t even tell you how much my body aches and yearns to run!
I know I need to get back into the routine of putting it in my schedule. But man, starting new good habits are almost just hard as quitting bad ones!
Have you ever found the place where you feel you totally fit in where you found your people? Let me know!!!
Here’s some images of my treadmill photos my MapMyRun photos and especially the photos when we are running on the island of Maui and the Big Island.

Becoming a Public Speaker
I have often been told and also agreed with people telling me that I should be a public speaker. I let the complement sink in and then I think of actually being a public speaker, and that realize it’s something I long to do.
I feel that I am now on the precipice of doing it. I have finally found the courage in me and I have been developing the idea and a plan of what I want to talk about and where I want to go with it.
As you have been following me you’ve seen me sing in my in my YouTube series “Driving Around Karaoke” to singing the national anthem at a number of events, to now crafting and quilting.
My creative journey has always been that – creative.
As I become more introspective and think about who I am and who I want to become, it has become a valuable idea to be a public speaker. I want to be on the stage and talk to women and men of all ages about infertility along with motherhood after infertility.
After writing my first book “The Reset Button – My Journey Through Infertility”, I began writing a book called “Motherhood After Infertility”. I am still in the writing stage of this book that I hope to have it finished so that I can tell this part of my journey.
I have taken the time to submit my interest in being a speaker at a number of fertility and infertility expos and conferences across the Nation. It is my sincere Hope and dream that they reach back out to me and asked me to speak. I have an important message and a heart for change.

31 Days – 31 Facts

Day 1
My birthday is on July 31st which means for 31 days away from my big celebration! I wanted to lunch it by starting to give you 31 stock about me so you will get one fact every day about me and who I am is sure to check me out on Instagram and ask me any questions you want me to tell you any specific stocks that make you curious about who I am and what makes me, well me.
if you check out my insta story right now on July 1st, you will also find it in my highlights, my day one fact one is to tell you that I am a full-time working mother of two young boys the reason I mention my babies is because my husband and I suffered from for a little over four years. And having children was what we always wanted but never could have. Until January 2015 I discovered I was actually pregnant!
it took us a little over two years to convince our parents that we were not going to pursue any infertility treatments in order to get pregnant. My infertility specialist offered me IUI or IVF treatment in order to have children. these treatments are highly expensive and costly with absolutely no guarantee and I was unwilling to take that risk after all the suffering and emotional trauma I had been going through in the years pass. Once my family had finally understood that I was not going to have a child to their luck and to our surprise my first son was on his way.
in 2014 I wrote and self-published a book about my journey through infertility and it is available for purchase on Amazon. I invite you to buy the book it’s a very quick read and you definitely will get to know me on a very personal level on how I went through the emotions and the journey of infertility. All the pain the heartache and the struggles. if you are going through or know anybody experiencing infertility this book will help you on your journey through communication with them and how to support them and be the best friend that you can tease. Also if you’re going through infertility basically word that hug you and let you know that you are not alone and that this truly does suck.
check in tomorrow July 2nd for my second fact about myself and my 31 days 31 facts about Melanie Grace.
