It’s subtle in August—easy to miss if you’re rushing through the afternoon heat. But if you step outside early enough in the morning, before the full weight of the day sets in, there’s a quiet shift in the air. A faint cool breeze, a change in texture, a gentle drop in temperature. The light hits the trees at a slightly different, softer angle. It’s the particular, lingering quality of an August morning that tells you summer is beginning its quiet handoff to autumn.
Fall is whispering. And I wrote it an album.
The Heart Behind Crisp Fall Air
My new album, Crisp Fall Air, drops this September. I’ve been sitting on this project all summer long, patiently waiting for the calendar to catch up with the music.
The record is fully written and produced, and it turned out to be everything I ever wanted a September album to be: warm, golden, and a little wistful. It is the sonic equivalent of pulling on your favorite, slightly overworn sweater for the first crisp morning of the year.
We focused heavily on organic textures:
- Acoustic guitars layered to sound like dry leaves turning in the wind.
- Intimate, present vocals engineered to feel like I’m sitting right across from you at a corner table, watching the season shift through a quiet coffee shop window.
- Warm analog tones that feel familiar, cozy, and grounded.
A Shift in Energy
After the high energy, vibrant beats, and humor of Mixtape Mindset, working on Crisp Fall Air felt like taking a long, deep exhale.
It’s a 12-song collection crafted specifically for the small, seasonal moments:
- Quiet September mornings before the rest of the house wakes up.
- Crisp, sunny afternoons out in the orchard picking apples.
- Golden hour drives down back roads with the windows cracked just enough to let the autumn chill in.
