Everything Is a Song (A Love Letter to Songwriting)

I want to write a love letter today. Not to a person — to a process.

Dear songwriting,

You have been the one constant in every season of my life. You were there when I didn’t have words for what I was feeling and somehow you had the words. You showed up at inconvenient times — in the shower, in traffic, in the middle of the night when the rest of the world was asleep — and I have learned to never question your timing.

You have taken my grief and turned it into something beautiful. You have taken my joy and made it bigger. You have taken my weird observations about sunscreen and pool floats and made people laugh and feel seen at the same time.

You have not always been easy. There are songs I’ve written that I thought were terrible for months before I understood what they were trying to say. There are songs that came out perfect the first time and I still don’t understand how. There are songs I’ve abandoned and come back to years later. You are patient like that.

In 2026 I made a promise to honor you properly. An album every month. A blog every day. A commitment to the craft and the audience and the process. And you have shown up for me in return — on Texas highways, in quiet hotel rooms, at the kitchen table before anyone else wakes up.

I am a songwriter. That is who I am. Everything else I am flows through that truth.

If music has ever meant something to you — if a song has ever found you in the dark and made you feel less alone — that is what I am trying to make. Every single time.

Thank you for being here with me on this journey. 🎶

Follow me on Spotify, Apple Music, and wherever you listen — and please, leave me a comment and tell me about a song that changed something for you. That’s the kind of conversation that makes all of this worth it.
