The Year I Finally Said Yes to Music
If you have been hanging around here for any length of time, you already know that 2026 was supposed to be the year I finally said yes to music. Not someday music. Not when-the-kids-are-older music. Not I will get to it eventually music. Real, right-now, all-in, independent singer-songwriter music. And here we are, April 14th, and I genuinely cannot believe what this year has already been.
I started January with my debut album Soundtrack of Your Life and honestly did not know what to expect. Would anyone listen? Would anyone care? What I found was that people absolutely do care about honest songs. They care about real stories set to melody. They care about a woman who has been writing songs in journals for years finally deciding to sing them out loud and put them into the world for real.
What Does an Indie Music Year Actually Look Like?
Here is the honest version of what a full indie music year looks like: it looks like early mornings and late nights. It looks like voice memos recorded in parking lots between school pickup and dinner. It looks like lyrics scribbled during independent work time and chord progressions worked out at midnight when everyone else is sleeping. It looks like showing up to the creative work even on the days when nothing flows, because you made a promise to yourself in January and you intend to keep it all the way to December.
Since releasing Soundtrack of Your Life as my debut album, I have released music about romantic love and the complexity of real long-term partnership, about Irish folklore and the joy of Celtic heritage, about faith and grace, and most recently about burnout and the radical act of choosing rest over productivity. Do Not Disturb came out April 1st and it felt like exhaling after holding my breath for a very long time. Each project as an independent singer-songwriter was an act of courage, not because any of them were perfect, but because they were real and entirely mine.
What’s Coming Next in My 2026 Music Calendar?
Spring is doing what spring does here in Southern California. Everything is blooming, the days are getting longer, and I am sitting at my keyboard with a list of ideas longer than my arm. There is a significant amount of music ahead this year, including summer releases I have been building toward for months, and I want to bring you along for every chapter of it.
For any music fan who loves authentic storytelling, independent releases, and a songwriter who is in it for the long game rather than a moment, this is the place to be. Subscribe to stay updated on every new release and come back tomorrow because we are genuinely just getting started. This is my music year. I claimed it in January and I am living it right now.
