I wrote “Four Walls” on a day when I just needed everyone to stop. Stop asking me questions. Stop needing things from me. Stop expecting me to have answers or energy or enthusiasm. I just wanted to close my door, lock it, and exist in silence.

Not because I was mad at anyone. Not because something terrible happened. Just because I was depleted.

What This Song Is Really About

“Four Walls” isn’t about isolation in a sad way. It’s about refuge. It’s about creating a space where you don’t have to perform, where you don’t have to be “on,” where you can just breathe.

When I sing “Nowhere to be, no one to please / Just me and the quiet, finally” – that’s the exhale I’ve been holding in all day.

That’s it. That’s the whole feeling. The exhaustion of explaining yourself to people. The weight of pretending you’re fine when you’re not. The relief of finally being alone where you don’t owe anyone anything.

Why I Opened the Album With This

I wanted the album to start with peace, not anger. Because that’s what I’m really searching for – not drama, not confrontation, just quiet. Just four walls where I can rest.

This song is permission. Permission to close your door. Permission to need space. Permission to say “not right now” to the world.
