In a World of Chaos

Our world is LOUD. Frantic. Spinning faster and faster. We’re overwhelmed by noiseโ€”notifications, demands, crises, division, conflict.

And into that chaos, a baby was born in silence. No fanfare, no announcement in the palace. Just a quiet arrival in a stable.

The angels called Him many things that night, but one title stands out: Prince of Peace.

Not peace as the world givesโ€”temporary truces, surface-level calm. But shalomโ€”deep, soul-level peace. Wholeness. Rest. The kind of peace that transcends circumstances.

Writing “Prince of Peace”

This song needed to BE what it’s aboutโ€”peaceful, intimate, restful. “In a world that’s spinning faster, in the noise and the disaster, You’re the whisper in the storm. You’re the shelter, safe and warm.”

I wanted every line to slow the listener down, to create space for breath, for stillness, for presence.

The chorus is a prayer: “Prince of Peace, come close to me. In Your presence, I am free. When my heart is anxious, wild, You still me like a child.”

That image of being stilled like a childโ€”it’s Psalm 131:2, “I have calmed and quieted myself, I am like a weaned child with its mother.”

The Theology

Isaiah 9:6 prophesied about Jesus: “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given… And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Prince of Peace isn’t just a nice titleโ€”it’s who He is. He came to bring peace:

  • Between God and humanity (reconciliation)
  • Within our own souls (internal rest)
  • Between people (unity in Christ)
  • Ultimately, cosmic peace when He returns

Philippians 4:7 promises “the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Why This Matters Today

Anxiety is epidemic. We’re burned out, stressed out, worn out. We need peaceโ€”not as an escape, but as a Person.

Jesus doesn’t just GIVE peaceโ€”He IS peace. His presence is where we find rest.

The Bridge

“Every worry, every care, I lay down, You’re already there. In the quiet, I can hear You singing peace, You’re drawing near.”

God isn’t waiting for us to get it together before He offers peace. He’s already there, in the mess, singing over us like a Father comforting a child.

Musical Simplicity

This song is SPARSEโ€”solo acoustic guitar, soft piano, minimal production. Because peace isn’t found in more; it’s found in less. It’s found in stripping away everything until all that’s left is His presence.

A Moment to Breathe

In the flow of the album, this song is a necessary pause. After celebration, lament, and triumph, we need a moment to just BE with Jesus. To remember that He’s not just the object of our worshipโ€”He’s the companion of our daily lives.

In your chaos, in your anxiety, in your overwhelming todayโ€”He is still the Prince of Peace. And His presence is enough.
