Welcome to the first song on “March Winds”! We’re starting this journey with a question I ask myself every four years: Do I really get an extra day?

The Story Behind “Leap Day”

Yes I know 2026 doesn’t have a February 29th! But, there’s something delightfully strange about February 29th. It shows up on the calendar every four years like an unexpected gift, and every time it comes around, I find myself staring at it like “wait, is this real? Do I actually get 24 bonus hours?”

I wrote “Leap Day” because I wanted to capture that weird, playful confusion we all feel when this day appears. It’s like the universe is winking at us, playing a little trick with time itself. And honestly? I never quite know what to DO with it. Is it mine to waste? Mine to save? Should I do something spectacular or just… live it like any other Tuesday?

The whole concept is kind of mind-bending when you think about it. We invented calendars to make sense of time, and then we had to throw in this random extra day every four years to make the math work. And don’t even get me started on leap day babies who are technically four years younger than the rest of us.

Why This Song Opens the Album

I wanted to start “March Winds” with wonder and playfulness. Before we get into the heavy stuff, before we talk about family and darkness and transformation, I wanted us all to just… pause and marvel at something strange and beautiful.

Because isn’t that what March is? A month that can be winter one day and spring the next? A month that can’t make up its mind? A month full of surprises and unexpected gifts?

“Leap Day” sets the tone: we’re going on a journey together, and it’s going to be full of questions, wonder, and moments that make us stop and think “wait, how does this even work?”

Also, I love that this is under 3 minutes. Quick, punchy, fun. We’re starting with energy and curiosity before we settle into the deeper stuff.

The Suno Magic

This was one of those songs that clicked pretty quickly in production. I wanted it upbeat with quirky instrumentation – think playful piano, maybe some unexpected strings. The energy needed to feel like that moment when you realize “oh! It’s leap day!”

The chorus really became the heart of it – that repeated question “Do I really get an extra day?” I wanted it to feel both genuine and a little bit absurd. Because it IS absurd, when you think about it.

What I Hope You Feel

When you listen to “Leap Day,” I want you to smile. I want you to remember that time is weird and wonderful and we don’t always have to take it so seriously. I want you to feel that childlike wonder at discovering something doesn’t quite make sense but somehow works anyway.

And maybe, just maybe, I want you to appreciate your regular, non-leap days a little bit more. Because if we get this excited about one bonus day every four years, imagine what we could do if we treated every day like a gift.

Hey everyone!

I am SO excited to finally share this with you. My new album “March Winds” is coming in March 2026, and honestly? This one feels different. This one feels like me.

Why March? Why Now?

Here’s the thing: I’m planning to release a new album every month in 2026. Yes, you read that right. MONTHLY ALBUMS. Am I crazy? Probably. But I’m also incredibly excited about it.

And I’m starting with March because spring is my absolute favorite season. There’s something about those first warm days, about things coming back to life, about the way March can be both wild and gentle in the same afternoon. Plus, March holds one of the most important days of my life – March 18th, my son’s birthday. This album is personal in ways I didn’t even plan for.

The Suno Journey: 53 Minutes That Took Hundreds of Listens

Let me tell you about the production process because it was… intense. I used Suno AI to produce the music for this album, and I didn’t just hit “generate” and call it done. Each song went through 3-10 versions. That’s somewhere between 45-150 versions I listened to across 15 songs, finding the exact sound that matched what I was hearing in my head, what fit the story I needed to tell.

Some songs clicked on version 3. Others? I listened to ten different arrangements before I found the one that made me go “THAT’S IT.” And “The Irish Goodbye”? That one came out PERFECT. I’m so proud of how that track sounds – it captures exactly the comedy and chaos I wanted.

What to Expect: 15 Songs, One Journey

This isn’t just a collection of songs about March. It’s a journey. Here’s where we’re going together:

The Playful Opening (Tracks 1-3) We start light – “Leap Day” asks that delightful question: do I really get an extra day? “Twenty-Eight Days” keeps the fun rolling, and then “Wearing Green” kicks off the Irish celebration with pure joy. The dark satire. The truth about alcoholism that runs through my family tree. It’s the emotional low point, and it’s supposed to be. Because you can’t have renewal without facing what needs to be renewed.

Spring Awakening (Tracks 10-12) Recovery begins with “First Thaw” – hope emerging, lighter cardigans, morning dew. “Robin’s Return” gives us breathing room with peaceful observation. “Seeds of Tomorrow” plants hope for the future with a gentle waltz that sways you back to your feet.

The Powerful Finish (Tracks 13-15) Energy RETURNS with “March Winds” – wild, free, dancing in the chaos of spring storms. Then comes “Bloom Where You’re Planted,” my big vocal showcase moment, the power anthem that says “I’m here, I’m growing, I’m NOT going anywhere.” And we close with “Renewal,” soft but strong, transformation complete: “This is me.”

Starting soon, I’ll be posting about each song individually. I’m going to share the lyrics, the stories behind them, what they mean to me, and why they found their place on this album. For the comedy songs, we’re going to have some fun. For the heavy ones, we’re going to get real.

Before the full “March Winds” album drops on February 23rd, I want to share something special with you. I’m releasing a series of Irish folklore singles throughout February and March, and we’re starting with one of the most meaningful symbols in Irish culture: The Claddagh Ring.

What Is The Claddagh Ring?

If you’ve ever seen that distinctive Irish ring with two hands holding a crowned heart, you’ve seen a Claddagh ring. It’s one of Ireland’s most recognizable symbols, and the design carries deep meaning:

The Hands represent friendship
The Heart represents love
The Crown represents loyalty

Together, they form a complete symbol of what matters most in life: love, loyalty, and friendship.

And the way you wear it? That tells a story too:
- Right hand, heart facing out: You’re single and available
- Right hand, heart facing in: You’re in a relationship
- Left hand, heart facing in: You’re married or engaged
Why This Song?

I wrote “The Claddagh Ring” because I wanted to explore what these symbols REALLY mean. Not just as a cute ring you buy in a tourist shop, but as a philosophy for living.

What does it mean to give someone your heart with loyalty and friendship built into the foundation? What does it mean to wear your commitment where everyone can see it? What does it mean to have love that’s held by friendship and crowned with loyalty?

This folklore single is about relationships – romantic, yes, but also about how we love our friends, our family, our community. It’s about the Irish understanding that love without loyalty and friendship is incomplete.

The Irish Heritage Connection

The Claddagh ring originated in the fishing village of Claddagh in Galway, Ireland, over 400 years ago. The traditional story says it was created by a man named Richard Joyce who was captured by pirates and sold into slavery. While enslaved, he learned the goldsmith’s trade and created the ring as a symbol of his enduring love for the woman he left behind.

When he was finally freed and returned to Galway, he discovered she had waited for him. He gave her the ring, and they married.

That story – of love that endures through separation, of loyalty that doesn’t fade, of friendship strong enough to wait – that’s the soul of the Claddagh ring.

What To Expect From This Single

“The Claddagh Ring” is tender, romantic, and deeply rooted in Irish tradition. Think folk ballad meets contemporary singer-songwriter. It’s the kind of song you’d want played at your wedding – or the song you’d listen to while looking at your Claddagh ring and remembering why you wear it.

And here we GO! This is where the album shifts into Irish territory, and we’re starting with pure, unapologetic JOY.

The Story Behind “Wearing Green”

Every March 17th, I’m up before the sun. I’m digging through my closet like I’m on a mission – because I AM. I’m finding that perfect shade of green. Emerald. Clover. Jade. Forest. Neon. I don’t care what shade it is as long as it’s GREEN.

And then I wear it ALL. Green from head to toe. Green shoes. Green earrings. Green everything. I’m a walking St. Patrick’s Day parade, and I’m not apologizing for it.

This song is about that feeling – that pure, childlike excitement of wearing a color that makes you FEEL something. It’s celebration. It’s pride. It’s joy wrapped up in a brilliant dream.

Why Green Matters

This isn’t just about a color. It’s about connection. It’s about heritage. It’s about giving yourself permission to CELEBRATE something that matters to you.

I’m 33% Irish. Not a huge percentage. But that 33% runs deep. It’s in my bones, in my stories, in the way I see the world. And every March, wearing green is my way of saying “I see you, ancestors. I honor you. I carry you forward.”

But also? It’s FUN. It’s joyful. It’s bright. And sometimes that’s enough reason to do something – because it brings you joy.

The Musical Celebration

This song needed Celtic pop energy – fiddle accents, bodhrán (that Irish drum), bright acoustic guitar, hand claps, stomping rhythms. I wanted it to feel like you can’t help but smile when you hear it. Like you want to MOVE.

The chorus is short and punchy and anthemic. Easy to remember. Easy to sing along with. “I’m wearing green, wearing green!” – I want people shouting that at the top of their lungs.

And that bridge? That’s where I get to be bold. “Let them call me shameless, let them call me bold” – because I AM bold about this. I’m not embarrassed. I’m not toning it down. I’m painting March in green light, and I’m proud of it.

What This Song Does for the Album

“Wearing Green” is the transition point. We’ve had our playful questions about leap day and February’s length. Now we’re diving into Irish heritage, and we’re starting with JOY. With celebration. With pride.

This sets the tone for tracks 4-7, where we get personal about Irish identity, family, food, and yes, comedy. But before we go deep, before we laugh at ourselves, before we get heavy – we CELEBRATE.
