  • It’s JULY. Do You Know What That Means?

It’s JULY. Do You Know What That Means?

    JULY. It is JULY.

You know what comes with July? Quilt Anthems. The album is coming THIS MONTH and I am barely containing my excitement about it.

But also? July 4th is around the corner and that means one of my very favorite annual traditions: ordering a ridiculous amount of new pool floaties on Amazon, shipping them to my mom’s house, and arriving to float on them with my sister like we are royalty of a very inflatable kingdom.

No apologies. Fully grown adult. Absolutely still doing this.

This tradition actually inspired a whole song — Floatie Tradition, which lives on the Summer State of Mind album — and I think that’s a perfect example of what I’ve always believed: the specific, real, joyful, goofy moments of your actual life are worth celebrating in music. Not in spite of the fact that they’re simple, but BECAUSE of it.

July is shaping up to be one of the most exciting months of this whole year. We’ve got an album dropping, we’ve got floaties incoming, we’ve got summer in full swing, and we’ve got — well, I’ll tease it now — some September album news I’ll start previewing later this month.

Let’s GO, July. I am ready for you.

Follow me on Spotify and Apple Music — the Quilt Anthems release is imminent and I don’t want you to miss it. Hit that follow button right now while you’re thinking about it! 🧵🎶

  • The Dream Beyond the Album: “Summer State of Mind”

The Dream Beyond the Album: “Summer State of Mind”

You’ve journeyed through all 13 tracks of “Summer State of Mind” together, and now I want to share the bigger dream behind this album – getting these songs placed in TV shows, films, and commercials through sync licensing.

    Why Sync Licensing Matters

As an independent artist, sync licensing represents more than just exposure or income (though both are wonderful!). It’s about my music becoming part of meaningful moments in visual media. It’s about someone watching their favorite show and hearing “California Life” during a road trip scene, or “When Summer Ends” scoring a bittersweet goodbye moment.

I write music to connect with people, to make them feel something. Sync licensing amplifies that connection by placing songs in the exact moment when viewers need to feel what the music expresses.

    Songs Made for Visual Media

I intentionally wrote “Summer State of Mind” with sync opportunities in mind. Here’s why each song has strong sync potential:

    Perfect for Commercials:

    • “Summer State of Mind” – Travel companies, summer fashion brands, beverage companies
    • “California Life” – Tourism campaigns, California-based brands, lifestyle products
    • “Red White and Pool” – Fourth of July sales, party supplies, American brands
    • “BBQ State of Mind” – Food brands, grilling products, summer beer campaigns

    Perfect for TV/Film:

    • “Summer Romance” – Romantic comedies, beach scenes, first-kiss moments
    • “The One That Got Away” – Emotional flashback scenes, bittersweet endings
    • “Hot Summer” – Sultry romance scenes, summer date montages, flirtation moments
    • “When Summer Ends” – Season finales, coming-of-age stories, goodbye scenes
    • “Put On That Summer Song” – Nostalgic montages, memory sequences

    Perfect for Sports/Events:

    • “250 Years Strong” – Patriotic events, Olympic coverage, American celebrations
    • “God Bless America” – Memorial Day/Veterans Day tributes, national moments

    The Emotional Range

What makes this album particularly sync-friendly is the emotional range. Music supervisors need songs for every kind of scene – celebration, heartbreak, nostalgia, triumph, reflection, joy. “Summer State of Mind” delivers all of it.

Need an upbeat EDM track for a party scene? “Red White and Pool” or “BBQ State of Mind.”

Need a stripped-down emotional ballad for a vulnerable moment? “The One That Got Away.”

Need something triumphant and patriotic? “250 Years Strong.”

    The versatility is intentional.

    The Indie Advantage

As an independent artist, I own my masters and can move quickly on licensing opportunities. I don’t need to wait for label approval or navigate complex rights situations. When a music supervisor finds the perfect song for their project, we can make it happen.

This agility, combined with competitive licensing rates and passionate creative collaboration, makes independent artists like me valuable partners for visual media projects.

My Sync Licensing Goals for 2026-2027

    Here’s what I’m actively pursuing:

    Summer 2026:

    • Tourism campaigns (especially California)
    • Summer beverage commercials
    • Clothing brand summer collections
    • Festival and event promotions

    Fourth of July 2026:

    • Patriotic commercial placements
    • Sports broadcast packages
    • Brand campaigns celebrating America’s 250th

    Year-Round:

    • TV show placements (rom-coms, dramedies, coming-of-age series)
    • Film soundtracks (indie films, summer blockbusters)
    • Streaming content (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon originals)
    • Documentary scores

    Working with Music Supervisors

If you’re a music supervisor reading this, I want you to know: I’m collaborative, professional, and passionate about finding the perfect song for your project. I understand the creative vision comes first, and I’m happy to discuss custom edits, alternate versions, or specific timing needs.

My music is registered with ASCAP, and I have clean, radio-edit, instrumental, and a cappella versions available for most tracks. I can turn around licensing agreements quickly and provide all necessary paperwork efficiently.

For My Listeners: How You Can Help

You might think sync licensing is only about industry connections, but audience support matters tremendously! Here’s how you can help:

    1. Stream and save these songs – High streaming numbers show music supervisors that songs resonate with audiences
    2. Share the album on social media, especially tagging it with #SyncLicensing #MusicSupervisors
    3. Create content using my music – TikTok videos, Instagram reels, YouTube content (with proper credit!) shows real-world usage
    4. Tag me when you hear songs that remind you of mine – if you’re watching a show and think “this scene needs ‘Summer Romance,’” tell me! I can reach out to that show’s music team

    The Bigger Vision

Beyond just this album, I’m building a catalog of sync-ready music across genres. Summer is just the beginning. I’m already working on fall, winter, and spring albums, each with the same attention to emotional storytelling and visual compatibility.

My goal is to become a go-to artist for music supervisors who need authentic, emotionally resonant, professionally produced indie pop for their projects. I want to be the artist they think of when they need a song that makes audiences FEEL something.

Thank You for Being Part of This Journey

Whether you’re a music supervisor considering these songs, a fan who’s been with me since day one, or someone who just discovered this album – thank you. Thank you for listening. Thank you for caring about independent music. Thank you for being part of making dreams come true.

“Summer State of Mind” drops May 18th, 2026. It’ll be available on all streaming platforms, and I cannot WAIT for you to experience the full album journey.

I woke up this morning and the first thing I did was check my phone. There it was – “Summer State of Mind” live on every streaming platform. All 13 songs. Out in the world.

I’m sitting here with my coffee, reading your comments, seeing your Stories with the album playing, and I’m just… overwhelmed. In the best way.

    This Album is For You

I’ve written a lot about what this album means to me – the inspiration, the process, the journey. But today I want to talk about what it means that you’re here.

Every pre-save. Every share. Every “I can’t wait!” comment. Every text from friends saying they’re excited. All of it mattered. All of it kept me going when I was stressed about whether these songs were good enough, whether anyone would care, whether I was crazy for making a 13-track summer album.

    You made this possible.

The Songs You Need to Hear

If you’re just diving in and don’t know where to start:

For the patriots: “250 Years Strong” and “God Bless America” – celebrating America’s 250th birthday

For everyone: Just play it from track 1 to track 13 and let the journey unfold

  • “Summer State of Mind” – Track 1: The Song That Started It All

“Summer State of Mind” – Track 1: The Song That Started It All

When I set out to write a summer album, I knew I needed a title track that captured everything I wanted to say in three minutes – and “Summer State of Mind” became exactly that. It’s the first song on the album for a reason: it sets the tone for the entire journey ahead.

    The Moment That Inspired It

Picture this: It’s a Friday afternoon, you clock out early, throw on your flip-flops, roll down the windows, and just drive. No plans, no stress, just sunshine and the promise of a weekend ahead. That feeling – that shift from work mode to summer mode – is where “Summer State of Mind” was born.

I wanted to capture that first-day-of-summer energy, when you trade your deadlines for paradise and everything just feels… lighter. Easier. Right.

    What Makes This Song Special

“Summer State of Mind” is an upbeat, feel-good anthem that kicks off the album with pure summer optimism. The lyrics paint a picture of those perfect summer moments: grabbing limes and ice from the store, feet up by the pool, phone on silent, world feeling wide open.

The chorus is intentionally simple and singable: “I’m in a summer state of mind / Leaving all my worries behind.” Because that’s what summer is really about – not perfection, but presence. Being fully in the moment, soaking it all in, letting yourself just BE.

    Why It Opens the Album

Every album needs a strong opener that tells you what you’re in for, and “Summer State of Mind” does exactly that. It’s upbeat without being overwhelming, relatable without being too specific, and optimistic without being cheesy. It welcomes you into the summer journey and says, “Hey, let’s do this together.”

    The Vibe

Musically, this is bright acoustic pop with a breezy, poolside feel. Think acoustic guitar, light drums, walking bass line, and harmonies that make you want to sing along. It’s the kind of song you want playing when you’re driving to the beach, hosting a backyard BBQ, or just lying in a hammock with nowhere to be.

    For the Playlist

If you’re making a summer 2026 playlist, this is your opening track. It’s perfect for:

    • Road trips to the beach
    • Pool party background music
    • Saturday morning coffee on the patio
    • Any moment when you need to shift into summer mode

This song reminds me why I love summer so much – and why I love California. Every time I listen to it, I’m transported back to that feeling of complete freedom and contentment. That’s the state of mind I want to live in all year long.

What puts YOU in a summer state of mind? Is it a specific place, a smell, a song, an activity? Drop a comment below and let me know! And don’t forget to follow me on your streaming platform so you catch all the new summer music coming your way!

    Stay sunny, Melanie Grace

  • Introducing “Summer State of Mind” – My New Summer Album Dropping May 18, 2026!

Introducing “Summer State of Mind” – My New Summer Album Dropping May 18, 2026!

Hey friends! I’m beyond excited to finally share what I’ve been working on for months – my brand new summer album, “Summer State of Mind,” releasing May 18, 2026!

    Living the California Dream

As someone who calls California home, I’m constantly reminded of how lucky I am to live in the sunshine state. Forty minutes to the mountains, thirty minutes to the beach, ninety to the desert – we literally have it all. The weather is mostly always perfect (not scorching like Arizona, not humid like Florida), and the sun sets at a reasonable hour (looking at you, Idaho with your 10pm sunsets!). This California lifestyle inspired so much of this album, and I couldn’t wait to capture that golden state magic in music.

    Summer Music for Summer 2026

“Summer State of Mind” is my love letter to everything summer – from floating in the pool with a cold drink to those magical golden hour sunsets over the Pacific, from Fourth of July celebrations to bittersweet end-of-summer goodbyes, from surviving triple-digit heat to finding romance in the blaze. This album has 13 tracks that take you on a complete summer journey, and I’m so proud of how it turned out.

But let me tell you – getting here wasn’t easy! I wrote, rewrote, edited, and omitted SO many songs. Some just didn’t fit the summer vibe I was going for, no matter how much I loved them. There were comedy songs that felt too forced, slow ballads that dragged the energy down, and upbeat tracks that just didn’t capture the feeling I wanted. The songs that made the final cut? They’re the ones that gave me chills every single time I listened back.

    The Best Part? America!

One of my favorite parts of this album is the celebration of America woven throughout. We’re releasing just in time for Memorial Day weekend, and tracks like “Red White and Pool,” “250 Years Strong,” and “God Bless America” are my tribute to this incredible country. In 2026, we’re celebrating 250 years of American independence – that’s huge! I wanted to honor that milestone with music that captures both the party spirit and the deeper gratitude I feel for living in the land of the free.

    Summer Activities, Summer Vibes

This album covers all the classic summer activities we love – pool parties, beach bonfires, BBQs with friends and family, driving with the windows down, those perfect sunset moments, and yes, even the universal struggle of trying not to get your hair wet at the pool (if you know, you know!).

Whether you’re looking for upbeat EDM tracks to blast at your Fourth of July party (“Red White and Pool” and “BBQ State of Mind” are high-energy dance anthems!), romantic slow jams for beach bonfires (“Summer Romance,” “The One That Got Away”), or nostalgic reflections on summers past (“Put On That Summer Song,” “When Summer Ends”), this album has something for every summer mood.

    Relisten After Relisten

I’ve listened to this album SO many times – not just during production, but afterward, testing the flow, making sure the energy builds and dips at the right moments, ensuring that each song transitions smoothly into the next. I’ve listened to it while driving down the coast, while floating in my pool, during sunset walks, and late at night when the nostalgia hits. Every single time, I feel something. And that’s what I want for you, too.

I made this album for people who love summer as much as I do. For people who get emotional when September rolls around. For people who understand that summer isn’t just a season – it’s a feeling, a state of mind, a way of living.

    What’s Coming

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be breaking down each song on the album – the stories behind them, what inspired them, and why they made the final cut. I’ll share behind-the-scenes moments from the songwriting process, the creative decisions that shaped this project, and the journey from idea to finished track.

“Summer State of Mind” drops Monday, May 18th, 2026 – perfectly timed to hit Release Radar and kick off the unofficial start of summer! It’ll be available on all streaming platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, and more).

Make sure to FOLLOW me on your streaming platform so you’ll see it the moment it drops! That way, my new music will always show up in your feed when I release something new.

I can’t wait for you to hear it. This is the soundtrack to Summer 2026, and I hope it becomes part of your summer memories too.
