Chosen by Grace Album: The Story Behind Melanie Grace’s Faith Music Project

What is the Chosen by Grace album about?  Chosen by Grace is a faith-based album by Melanie Grace that explores the experience of being loved and held by grace completely freely, not because you earned it or performed well enough. It was written for anyone who has ever worked too hard to deserve something that was always already theirs.

A Word I Have Been Circling

Grace has been living in the back of my mind and in the corners of my songwriting for a long time before this album existed. Not grace as in moving elegantly through a room, though that is lovely too. I mean grace in the theological sense: the idea that there is goodness available to you that you did not earn and cannot lose, that you are held by something larger and more patient than your own effort or your own performance.

Chosen by Grace was my attempt to put that experience, the felt sense of it and also the struggle to actually receive it, into music that could sit with someone in the specific tension of knowing grace is supposed to be free while still quietly believing at some level that you have to justify your place in it.

Who Is the Chosen by Grace Album Written For?

It is written for anyone who recognizes that particular exhaustion of working hard to earn something that was never supposed to require earning. For the person who is sincere in their faith but has somehow turned grace into another performance they have to get right. For the person who grew up in church and loves what they believe but is tired of the version of religion that keeps quietly moving the goalposts.

I know that person with specific intimacy because I have been that person at different points in my life. The songs in Chosen by Grace were not written from a place of having arrived at full clarity or resolution. They were written from inside the ongoing process of learning to actually receive what I say I believe. I hope that honesty is audible in every track.

How Does Faith Music Connect With Listeners Who Are Not Religious?

This is a question I find genuinely interesting to sit with. The response to Chosen by Grace has included people who would not identify as religious in any conventional sense but who connect deeply with the emotional theme of being accepted without first having to perform acceptance-worthiness. That theme is not exclusively the domain of religious experience. It is profoundly human. It lands wherever someone has felt that their worth was conditional on what they did or produced or became.

Songs about grace and faith that actually connect require honesty about doubt as well as conviction. Tracks that are too certain, that smooth over all the real complexity, tend to ring hollow even to deeply believing listeners. The songs on Chosen by Grace have real doubt in them alongside the faith, and I believe that honesty is precisely why they connect as broadly as they do.

Introducing “Chosen by Grace” – My New Easter Album Is Here

Some albums take years to plan. Some arrive all at once, almost like they were waiting for the right season to step forward.

“Chosen by Grace” was that kind of album for me.

These ten songs came out of real life. Real prayer. Real moments of wondering if God was paying attention, and then being completely undone when I realized He never looked away.

The album released April 6, 2026, and if you have not heard it yet, I want to walk you through what is waiting for you.

A serene landscape with a figure walking down a stone path surrounded by olive trees, bathed in golden light from a rising sun, with the text 'Chosen By Grace' at the top and 'Melanie Grace' below.

What Is “Chosen by Grace” About?

At its core, this album is about identity. Not the kind of identity built on what you do or how well you perform, but the kind that was decided before you were born and confirmed at the cross.

Every song on this album circles back to one central truth: you were not an accident. You were not an afterthought. You were chosen by grace, and nothing about your story disqualifies you from that.

Over the next several weeks, I will be sharing a full blog post for every single song, including the story behind it, the feelings woven into the lyrics, and the Scriptures that shaped it.

    Why I Made This Album

I have spent a lot of my life feeling like grace was real in general, but not always sure it was specifically real for me. I think a lot of people live there. We believe the theology but struggle to let it land personally.

These songs were my way of letting it land.

Writing music has always been how I process the deepest things. And these songs were written in the middle of life, not from a mountaintop. They are honest. They are sometimes searching. And I hope they feel like a hand extended to anyone who needs to be reminded that they are not outside of grace.

    Scripture That Anchors This Album

Isaiah 43:1 “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.”

John 15:16 “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit.”
