Crisp Fall Air Preview: “When It Gets Crisp”

September is 12 days away. Time to start properly introducing Crisp Fall Air.

The opening track is called “When It Gets Crisp,” and it serves as the thesis statement for the whole album. If you want to understand what the next thirteen songs feel like, this opener tells you in the first thirty seconds.

It is built around the F. Scott Fitzgerald idea that “life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.” I fell in love with that quote the moment I found it because it captures something I have felt my whole life but never quite had the words for. Fall is not an ending. Fall is a beginning dressed in gold.

“When It Gets Crisp” arrives like that first morning. Clear, clean, full of possibility. The production is a warm acoustic arrangement with a sense of space and air in the mix that feels like an open window. My voice sits close and present, leading you straight into the season.

Underneath the seasonal imagery, the love thread starts immediately. Fall is always better when there is someone to notice it with you. That thread runs all the way through all fourteen songs on the record.

Bringing an entire fourteen-track album together while keeping up with my 2026 creative promises has been a defining test of discipline. At the start of this year, I committed to two major practices: writing a daily blog post and releasing at least one new piece of music every single month.

At first, balancing constant music production with a daily writing habit felt like a massive mountain to climb. But staying true to these commitments has completely transformed my workflow. Showing up every day builds a steady creative momentum. It keeps the ideas moving fluidly from initial inspiration to finished mix without getting tangled up in perfectionism.

“When It Gets Crisp” is proof of what that steady rhythm can produce. The daily writing keeps my storytelling instincts sharp, while the monthly music commitment forces me to trust my ear and finish what I start.

  • Why I Believe in Seasonal Music (And Why You Should Too)

Here’s a thing I believe strongly enough to build my whole 2026 release schedule around it: seasonal music matters.

There is a reason “All I Want for Christmas Is You” gets streamed a billion times every December. There is a reason summer playlists exist. There is a reason people reach for cozy acoustic music in October. We are seasonal creatures. We want music that matches what the air feels like outside.

And yet the music industry has historically been weird about this — acting like releasing something “seasonal” limits your audience or your shelf life. I think that’s backwards. The songs with the longest lives are often the ones that come back around every single year because they ARE that season.

My Thanksgiving album comes back every November. My Christmas albums come back every December. Summer State of Mind will come back every summer. The Crisp Fall Air album I’m putting the finishing touches on right now? That’ll come back every September for years.

    Catalog. Legacy. The long game.

I’m not trying to have one hit song. I’m trying to build a library of music that accompanies people through the whole year, every year, for the rest of their lives. That’s the goal. That’s always been the goal.

September is coming faster than you think, and the fall album is beautiful. I’ll start talking about it more as we get closer. But know that it’s coming, it’s warm and golden and just a little melancholy the way fall always is, and I cannot wait for you to wrap yourself in it.
