    Standing at the Bridge

    I want to take one more day here at the edge of this season before tomorrow officially changes everything. May 14th is a bridge day and I want to spend it looking in both directions with equal attention and equal gratitude. Behind me: one of the most creatively rich springs of my life, built daily, one song and one blog post and one honest conversation at a time. Ahead: summer, with all its warmth and expanded energy and music I have been building toward since January.

    This bridge between seasons feels genuinely significant because I can see both ends of it clearly from where I am standing right now. I can see the spring that grew everything this year. And I can see the summer that is going to take what spring grew and open it completely to the sky.

    What Did This Spring Teach You About Making Music?

    This spring taught me the most important lesson I have learned all year: the music you make when you are being completely honest with yourself is always better than the music you make while trying to be impressive or acceptable or safe. Honesty connects. Every song that found its deepest audience this year, whether from Do Not Disturb or Left Out or Through It All, was a song where I stopped managing the impression and simply said the true thing in the most honest way I could find.

    Spring also confirmed what I suspected in January: the creative life is built one consistent day at a time, not in dramatic gestures. Thirty one blog posts. Multiple albums. Hundreds of small creative decisions made in the margins of a full and beautiful life. None of it felt epic or monumental in the individual moments. All of it accumulated into something I am genuinely and deeply proud of.

    What Is Coming in Summer State of Mind?

    Starting tomorrow, May 15th, the Summer State of Mind series begins and you do not want to miss the first post. We will be spending the summer together talking about new music, about creativity in the warm months, about what it means to make art inside a full and beautiful life, and about the specific summer releases that are arriving.

    First and most significantly: ‘Merica releases June 8th. It is my Americana album. It is wide and warm and American in the most loving and genuine sense of that word. It has been waiting a long time to exist in the world and it is almost ready. Summer State of Mind is the season built for it.

    2026 Music Year in Review: From Winter Debut to Summer Countdown

    What has Melanie Grace released in 2026 so far?  As of mid-2026, Melanie Grace has released Soundtrack of Your Life (January), Through It All (February), Irish Celtic singles (March), Do Not Disturb (April 1st), Left Out, and Chosen by Grace. Her Americana album ‘Merica releases June 8th, with multiple additional projects planned through the end of the year.

    Halfway Through and Looking Both Directions

    It is almost mid-May and I want to pause for a real moment before the summer launch pulls all of my energy forward into what is coming. Looking backward with full attention before I look ahead is a practice I have been developing this year, because a creative year this full can easily become a blur if you do not stop deliberately and actually see what you have built.

    January feels like a long time ago. It also feels like last month. That particular time paradox, where a lot of experience has compressed into something that simultaneously feels like forever and no time at all, seems to be the defining quality of a year where you are creating consistently and putting real things into the world with real regularity.

    What Did the Winter Music Season Build?

    Winter is my writing season by nature, introspective and quiet and focused inward. Soundtrack of Your Life, my debut album, came entirely out of that energy and energy alone. It broke something open that had been closed for too long. Through It All followed in February and was shaped by the warmth of Valentine’s Day while being grounded in the reality of fifteen years of real marriage. The Irish Celtic singles arrived in March with a burst of pure creative joy unlike anything else in the catalog.

    Looking back at all of that winter music from the warmth of May, I can see clearly what that season was building. It was building the foundation. It was proving to me and to anyone paying attention that 2026 was real and the music was not a one-time experiment but a sustained and deeply intentional creative practice.

    What Is Coming in the Summer and Fall of 2026?

    Summer arrives officially June 8th with I Love America. After that, there is more music coming through the rest of 2026 that I will start sharing details on as we get closer to each release. The projects are at various stages of completion and I am genuinely excited about all of them.

    April 2026 in Music: Every Song, Story, and Lesson From a Creative Month

The month also marked her 15th wedding anniversary, deep reflections on Through It All and Left Out, and daily blog storytelling throughout the spring season.

    April, You Were Something Else

    I am sitting here on the last day of April trying to actually absorb everything this month contained. We started April 1st with Do Not Disturb and its message of permission and rest. We celebrated fifteen years of real marriage on the 16th and talked honestly about what enduring love actually looks and feels like from the inside. We went deep on Left Out and the kind of personal songwriting that requires you to go back into locked rooms and stay there. We talked about spring and faith and the church choir and fitness discipline and homeschooling and lo-fi music and American songwriting and everything in between.

    And somewhere inside all of that, every day without exception, I kept writing. I kept showing up to the music even on the days when the calendar was full to the edges. That consistency is the thing I want to note and celebrate about this month, above any single release or any particular blog post. The showing up is the work. Everything else follows from the showing up.

    What Did April 2026 Teach You About Being an Artist?

    April taught me that an artist is not a person who makes things when inspiration reliably strikes. An artist is a person who makes things. Regularly. Consistently. Even when the conditions are imperfect, even when the inspiration is slow, even when the last thing you made did not work out exactly the way you wanted it to.

    April also confirmed for me that talking honestly about the creative process is as valuable to the audience as the creative output itself. The responses to these blog posts have been genuinely moving. People are reading and connecting with the stories behind the music in ways that feel like the music is extending itself rather than just being described. Both things matter equally to me as an independent singer-songwriter building a real catalog and a real community.

    What Is Coming in May 2026?

    May is right around the corner and everything is about to shift in energy and tone. The summer releases I have been working on are getting closer to finished. There is a project coming in June that I am genuinely excited to start talking about in real detail, and May is the month where I begin giving you actual previews with actual information.
