(Resurrection Triumph)
The Heart of Part III
We’ve journeyed from prophecy to birth to passion to hope. Now we arrive at the resurrection – the ultimate proof that Jesus is who He claimed to be.
“I Know That My Redeemer Lives” is a triumphant baroque aria declaring the confident hope of every believer.
The Biblical Foundation
Job 19:25-27 is the ancient declaration:
“I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth. And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God; I myself will see him with my own eyes—I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me!”
This is Old Testament resurrection hope – written centuries before Christ, yet pointing forward to Him.
Romans 8:11 applies it to believers: “And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.”
1 Corinthians 15:20 celebrates, “But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.”
The Baroque Confidence
This piece features:

In choir, these confident declarations were always empowering. You’re not singing “I hope” or “maybe” – you’re singing “I KNOW.” That certainty, that assurance, changes how you sing.
Writing This Declaration
The lyrics are personal and confident:
“I know that my Redeemer lives
What comfort this assurance gives
He lives, He lives, who once was dead
He lives, my ever-living Head”
The chorus makes it present reality: “I know, I know my Redeemer lives
I know, I know He conquered death
From the grave He rose in power
This is my finest hour
I know that my Redeemer lives!”
The bridge lists His victories: “Death could not hold Him
The grave could not keep Him
Sin could not claim Him
He is victorious!
Hell could not take Him
Fear cannot shake Him
My Redeemer lives forever
Forever victorious!”
The Theology
The resurrection isn’t just a nice ending to the story – it’s the proof that validates everything Jesus said and did.
Romans 1:4 explains Jesus “was appointed the Son of God in power by his resurrection from the dead.”
1 Corinthians 15:17 shows its necessity: “And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.”
But because He IS raised, 1 Corinthians 15:54-57 declares, “Death has been swallowed up in victory. Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Why This Matters Today
This isn’t about a historical event 2000 years ago. This is about YOUR future.
Because Jesus lives, YOU will live. Because He conquered death, death has no power over you. Because He rose, you will rise.
John 11:25-26 promises, “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.’”
1 Thessalonians 4:14 assures, “For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.”
My Personal Hope
When I sing these words about my Redeemer living, I think about my dad – Claude H. Becker, whose name graces this album. He’s not gone. He’s more alive than ever, because he’s with the Redeemer who lives.
And one day, I’ll see him again. Not because of any goodness in me, but because my Redeemer lives.
I know. I don’t hope or wish or think. I KNOW. My Redeemer lives!
